APRICOT consortium holds general assembly meeting in Enschede

On the 20th of January 2023, the APRICOT consortium met in Enschede, the Netherlands, at the premises of the University of Twente. The partners presented and discussed progress so far and devised the plan for the remaining months of the project.

“This meeting has given us a clear idea of what we need to focus on to get to the end of the project. It is great to see how all our different work is coming together”, says Dr Charles Burson-Thomas, from the University of Southampton.

Among topics presented, the University of Twente gave insight into the testing of a fixation system and a soft tissue pilot study that has recently been conducted. Fraunhofer IPA and Aurora Medical gave an update on the progress for the manufacturing process of the Apricot implants. The University of Southampton, Aurora Medical and the Technical University of Munich presented their latest progress within experimental testing, anchoring system and surgical instruments.

EURICE and the University of Southampton gave an update on communication activities related to the project, including social media activities and the distribution of communication material. Possible Key Exploitable Results emerging from the project were also highlighted and will be further elaborated in the near future.

Planned publications and conferences were also discussed. All publications resulting from the APRICOT project can be accessed on the APRICOT website.

As part of the meeting, the University of Twente also organised a tour of their surgical robotics lab and soft robotics lab.
